RIPPLE
APIHM ILLUSTRATIONS FOR ZOOM BACKGROUNDS, BANNERS, SWAG ASSETS
Art Director : Zihang Jiao / Lead Designer at Ripple
2024
Brief :
I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to have contributed as an illustrator to a project commemorating Asia-Pacific Heritage Month (APIHM) in this May for Ripple. My role involved creating artworks representing the cultural significance of office locations like San Francisco Chinatown, Mumbai, Singapore, Dubai, and Shanghai. It was an honor to celebrate the diversity of Asian-Pacific cultures through modern aesthetics. Those artworks were versatile assets used as Zoom backgrounds, banners for internal communication, and swag items. It's been a source of immense pride to create resonant artworks for different office locations. As an Asian residing in the North Pacific, I'm deeply proud to have been a part of this meaningful project.

Sketches
In designing illustrations for Zoom backgrounds, I needed to set key elements towards the edges to ensure visibility during meetings. Collaborating closely with clients, I incorporated iconic landmarks and scenery into sketches, refining them based on feedback. The final illustrations, characterized by a modern and clean aesthetic, were tested and optimized for digital use, offering engaging backdrops for virtual meetings. The following is part of the process.
These illustrations were created using Adobe Photoshop and/or Procreate by Yoko Baum, utilizing raster brushes. No AI was involved in the creation of these artworks. Happy Human-Powered Creativity!
